How did I do?

Yesterday, I stopped by my favorite gun shop and bought this;

1 Ruger 10-22 w/stainless steel barrel and synthetic stock

1 Hogue over molded rubber stock

1 25 round Butler Creek banana magazine

total price $315.00 out the door.

Did I do okay or did I get took?

I know I could have bought the rifle cheaper at Wal-mart but I felt better buying from Mickey since he is a good friend. He also has a range out back so you can test fire firearms or just shoot a new rifle or pistol before you get it home.

Bode

P.S. I did notice also that he had several boxes of 5mm mag. ammo and it was priced at $21.00 a box if anyone is interested.

Awhile back I bought a 1976 Winchester M-94 in VG for $350. Just a couple of weeks later I acquired in a trade another 1972 M-94. Not quite as nice as the 76, but IMO in Good + condition. Basically had about $100. in this one.
Yesterday I traded them both for a 1957 M-94 in VG condition. I'm pretty tickled. What say you?

I just bought a AMT .380 BackUp N.I.B for $175.00 + 7% sales tax + $20.00 Shipping = $207.25 delivered to my door from a dealer closeout. No FFL transfer because it's in state, just back ground check. I downloaded the form #4473 myself and scanned my drivers and CCW license and sent it to the seller. And that's all that was needed.

I just got a new DPMS bull sweet 16 for 860 including shipping, it comes with 2 30 round magazines, a sling, and a cleaning kit. I'm new to AR's but I did my research and it seemed like a good deal.

Do you think I did allright?

I'd say put her in the new stock and start having fun. You should both be able look each other in the eye. Sounds like a fair price.
    Enjoy.

My parents found a package like that for my brother and it came with a ruger carrying case, sling, and scope for about $190 brand new at a sporting goods store. You didn't get the best deal, but you didn't get a good deal either. I see them around a lot cheaper than you paid. It just depends on how long you want to look around for a deal.

    walther86,

I think you need to look twice at what it is and what came with it. I'm pretty sure you would just about have to hit a few lucky numbers on the lotto to walk out with the package he got for $315. You may be able to get hold of a 10-22 but done up like the one he has.

Winston, I'd say you got a good deal. Shoot it and have fun.

1 Ruger 10-22 SS/Synthetic - $200-$250 depending (might be a little off here, can't check gun prices here at work).
    1 Hogue overmolded stock - $60-70 depending
1 25 round Butler Creek banana mag. $15-20 depending.

So at the low end you are looking at $275 before taxes. High end, $340 before taxes. You price falls right in the middle, so I would say it was a fair deal.

Thanks for all the comments. Like I said, I could have gotten the rifle cheaper at Wal-Mart but I'd rather pay Mickey a little more because he cuts me some good deals every now and then. He also let me go in the back and use his work bench to put the new stock on the rifle. Me and the wife were on our motorcycles so I had to leave it to the next day when we could come back in the car. Still haven't shot it yet, just put a scope on it and put it in the safe.

I'm off the next couple of days and will go try it out if it doesn't start raining.

Here, Wally World has almost gotten out of firearms business. One store puts pistol ammo behind the counter, the next has it on open shelves. Just not having to deal with their PC crap is worth $50 by itself. Otherwise, spounds like you got a fair dea, espec. if he's local and let you set it up there.

I would say you did good for these reasons.

-Cool gun with extras at a good price
-You said hell with wal mart[:)]
-If somethings wrong with the gun your friend is going to make it right unlike walmart who is going to say to bad
-The next time you go into the shop he might have that gun in the back that hasnt made it to the shelfs and you get first peek at it. (happens to me all the time)

    That what I think personally.
