holster for XD45 4" compact

I need a good holster to carry my XD 45 compact. I am not sure what brand or shoulder, belt loop, or other type of holster to use. I carry this weapon alot using the holster that came with it. But it is not comfortable and the concealment is not good. The holster also has no strap to help hold the pistol. In winter time, this is no problem, in spring and summer much more of a problem. Any ideas or recomendations?
Thanks

There are some questions when answered will help us to help you find a good solution.
Concealed carry is very personal and many things contribute to being able to do so in a manner keeping your gun "concealed" and comfortable at the same time.

What position do you prefer ie; strong side hip, cross draw, SOB etc.

What kind of weather is most prevelant where you are and are liable to be carrying.

Do you prefer inside or outside the pants?

Do you prefer leather or Kydex (plastic)?

What are your normal activities while carrying?

I do not recommend Small of the back to anyone for various reasons including the possibility of personal injury.
Cross draw although comfortable and very fast to draw is difficult to keep hidden at all times.

Strong side hip is preferable to most and easiest to hide and not print during activities.

I personally carry 7 days a week and do not go where I cannot carry. I prefer inside the pants and our weather is usually very hot (Phoenix Az) so I carry leather in the winter and spring and summer I carry Kydex, but all are inside the pants stong side.

On occassion I even have to carry in my Galco fanny pack due to activities and where I am going at the time.

You will find that no one holster or carry device is going to suffice and you will wind up with more than one in time.

Do not go cheap with your carry device, you are betting your life and you want it to hold its' shape in or out of the holster.

There are a plethora of good quality holsters out there. Some of my favs are Galco , Don Hume, De Santis, Milt Sparks for starters.

For plastic there are many such as Fobus and I believe Galco is starting a line of plastic as well.

Hope this helps a little and if you need more PM or post again with some answers and I am sure more will come aboard to give more ideas.

I help people every day of the week at my range and retail sales store so I am familiar with what works best for most and do not specify any one brand until I know more about the individual.

I use a Galco Matrix. It's light, affordable (less than $25), very concealable and easy-on and off. It also carries either my XD-9 sub-compact or XD-45 4" service model securely.

Thanks to all for your help. I checked the websites and saw several I like. I prefer a leather, belt holster with a thumb strap for my XD45. I like the right hand draw. I am disabled and will carry in all kinds of weather conditions. I live in Tennessee. I carry everywhere I go so I need good concealability. I am still open to suggestions. I am in no hurry because I want to buy the right one the first time. Thanks.

My personal favorite so far is from www.simplyrugged.com
Reasonably priced and very comfortable for me. I don't carry an auto in one of his holsters at this time but my S&W 442 is always in one. My 3" .44 also wears Simply Rugged leather when I'm hunting. The pancake style (no strap) is what I have and my revolvers don't move in them. I can hold it upside down and wiggle it and the gun stays in. Even tighter when on the belt.
They make a version for automatics and a strap is an option as well as an option for a removable IWB setup. www.gunblast.com has a review on them too.
