Red Eagle OM Single Six

OK, I do know that these never existed, so the Red Eagles on this Single Six must have been faked. I bought it last year at a pawn shop for $250. Any idea why someone would do this? I think I'll leave it as-is, simply because it looks different.

The red eagles were standard prior to the death of Bill Ruger. After he died, they went to the black eagles .

Lefty. You got it backwards. Black came after Sturm's death.

Sturm died before any Single Sixes were made. That's why no Single Sixes should have these Red Eagles on the grips.

No, it's an old 3 screw with plum colored frame. The screw heads are on the other side.

Nice looking OM 3 screw. Is it a roundgate or flatgate? Those are the original XR3 black butaprene-rubber grips, although the eagles would have been black. My guess is the black in the eagles had mostly worn off, (as a lot do), and they were repainted red. They did a very good job also. Love the plum cylinder frame.

The XR3 grips 1953-1962 Rubber, Walnut, Stag, and Ivory were all black eagles.

Thank you. It is a round gate style made in 1957. It appears to be original, except for the red paint.

Here's one I had for a few years. All original, box and papers. 1957 should be pretty close to your serial number.

Note the grips and black eagle.
