looking for an estimated value of a Remington 1903 30-06. Have researched serial number and dated 1917

RA 10-42, all original stock, scope added. Looking to get an idea of what was worth. Have seen them all over the board when searching available, comparable models!!!

Any help, advice or referrals would be greatly appreciated!!!

The serial number on the receiver dates to 1941, according to my reference. Because of the extensive sportizing it would have virtually no value to a military rifle collector.

Sporterized ex military rifles, are quite common on the auctions. Check out the actual prices for the ones that have been sold to get a handle on yours.

My guess is that it would max out in the $200-$300 range at the most, to the proverbial right person.

Your rifle has a lot of Remington '03-A3 parts (may be transitional). Assembled about mid-late 1942. Non-original stock, and the receiver has been butchered (for value purposes).

On a very good day, perhaps $250.00. It's a completely sporterized rifle. Non-original stock. Holes drilled in receiver in six places. That alone is the biggest no-no.

Below is my 1903 Remington. SerNo 3177---(I can't read the last three numbers) Assembled into the finished rifle about 6-42. Notice yours has a higher serNo? Best, Joe

    EDIT:
    Correction to dates

With the drilled rec. there would be no collector interest at all. Stock has either been modified or is incorrect. Handguard appears to be missing. What this appears to be is a lightly sportorized O3. Value is only as a shooter. CMP was selling these 1 year ago in original USGI configuration for around $500. This one would be worth less. Probably 20 to 30% less because of the modifications. Just my opinion based on what I have seen in the past.
