I have a Colt .38 Army Special Revolver that I got from my great uncle when he passed recently. I cannot find anything similar to it. The Serial number lists it to be made in 1911. It has a pearl handle and is very ornately engraved. Any info would be appreciated...

I picked up a Colt Detective Special at the Portland Or. Gun show last weekend, serial # 476054. It doesn't have a barrel shroud, has wood grips that are flat on the bottom with the edges beveled. Can some one give me a date of manufacture. It's about an 80-85% gun, and according to the 29th Blue Book of Gun Values it's worth $425-$500 if it's a first issue. Any assistance and information is appreciated. Thanks for looking.

i tried posting this in the general forums but didn't get much help. I just put a colt defender Series 90 on layaway, i think it is the police/officer model what is the difference between that and the other model, i guess it would be the commercial model?

I have just got a Colt Official Police Model from my Grandfather. I am looking to find out what year it was manufactured. The serial number is 825000+. In the books that I have looked in, this model ran from 1927 - 1969. Trying to narrow that down a bit. If anyone has info from the year that was manufactured feel free to respond. I appreciate the help.

What is the difference between 32 Colt and 32 Long colt or is there any? If so what cartridge does the 32 colt fire?

I have A Colt Commander 1911 S# 39487-LW 4 1/2" barrel. I can't find out anything about this gun. I am needing new springs for it, but the person ordering them for me keeps asking me if it is A 70 or 80 Series. All that is on the gun is Commander & Colt & the Serial # It has full size grips, alloy frame ( i know that is what the LW stands for. Any one with any help?? Thanks John

I thought my Army Special was out of time because the cylinder didn't index fully to locked position when the hammer was cocked. Stops just a hair short.
Took it to a Colt gunsmith who said the cylinder indexes that final little bit when the trigger is pulled. And that it's supposed to do that. Indeed it does appear so.
Is it really true that Colts were made to do this? And why?

This is a 1959 Built Pistol Go to Brownells and ask their tech department they will sell you the CORRECT SPRINGS. If the person you are trying to order from does not know the date by serial number get another place to buy parts.
