All--thanks to those who responded before--I have more questions. My understanding--halo 40-50 yards--quick. Looking for quick with red dot out to 150 yards. What I have been looking at but know nothing about are these: Trijicon RX01 6.5 MOA amber dot, EOTECH 512/552, Aimpoint Comp3 red dot 11421, aimpoint 9000SC red dot, aimpoint compC SM7. Price range is 3-4 bones, quick aquisition and with red dot.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Did you look at Leupold CQ/T that will fall into the type of scope you are looking for. You can use it up close and it's variable power for longer shooting. This sound to be more of what you may be looking for!!!! It's a few more buck, but if you look you can get used ones in the 400 range and I think it's more on the lines you are now talking about.

I have never had a problem hitting a 6" gong at 217 yards with an Aimpoint 9000, great optic for close and long range on human sized targets.

    Skyman-

Personally the only optic that I have experience with is the Aimpoint M3, or Close Combat Optic, which is available with a 2 or 4 MOA dot. It was my basic training company's standard sight at Ft. Benning, and I have qualified with it several times since. Good hits out to 300 meters should be no problem with it zeroed in right.

Haven't gotten my hands on a CompM4 yet, but it comes with an integral mount and uses AA batteries which are easier to get. 2 MOA dot.

Eotechs are great for close work but I have never used one farther out that 50m.

    Good luck!
