Kollmorgen Bear Cub. 21/2 power non-variable. Photo looks like 7/8in. but owner says 1in. Does anybody know for sure what tube size Kollmorgen made in this type of scope? Thanks for looking. Joe

Kollmorgen made them in 26mm ( 1.024"). If you have the rings for the mount you want to use, you're lucky. Leopold makes them for their mounts, Weaver used to make them and someone who makes high priced military hardware also makes them at about $90.
V35: Thanks for the heads-up. Item in red..do you have a lead/contact for me to pursue? Again, thanks. Joe
EDIT:
V35: Thanks again for the advice. Should have mentioned it earlier..I have a Griffin & Howe M14 (not M1) base/mount setup, 7/8in. rings, and 26mm G&H rings that extend over the bore axis. I'm toying with my options. Undecided whether to go the MC-1 Kollmorgen setup, M1C M84 setup, or the Vietnam era Leatherwood AR-TEL configuration.
Oh, the decisions, decisions. I'll post a picture of my final work. Joe
EDIT 2:
V35: I'm glad to hear about the M81/M82 being appropriate on early scoped M14's. As I said before, I have a wierd setup. Army fabricated M14 sidemount that takes a G&H quick release base. Original intention was to scope the M14 with surplus WWII/Korea glass.
Besides, the M81/M82's are a little less expensive than the M84. Best, Joe
I'm fairly certain all these scopes were 26mm, having had two.
Mountsplus.com has 30mm to 26 mm conversion inserts for $18.75 and TPSProducts.com , 1-877-877-3409 lists several styles in steel and aluminum. MWG co is sold out. I forget where I recently saw the $94rings but they were advertized as "Tactical".
Another way to skin this cat and since there are already some kind of ring on the scope is to machine the bases off the rings and the tops off weaver rings, find the exact lateral centers and drill and tap for two screws on each ring. Before assembly, check the dimension from the bottom of scope bore to the inside top of Picatinny dovetail cut in the bases. It would have to be done carefully by a machinist who knows what he's doing.
Like a dummy, I gave away a pair of Weaver 26mm rings on a USMC Kollmorgan scope I sold. He didn't want the rings and I had no use for them then.
The M84 (butt ugly) was the only scope TO&E for the M1D.
Your Kollmorgan would also look right on the A4 Springfield as we had Redfield Junior rings for A4 to mount either Alaskan or M82 scopes in my Army ordnance shop.
I shot the M82 a great deal. Besides the tapered post, I liked the sliding sunshade. It's surprising, sliding sunshades never found their way to the civilian market.
