I just won a brown laminate stocked Volquartsen Evolution in 223 (the last 5 minutes of the auction are always a bit nerve wracking!)and wonder if anyone has one, what's their experience on function and accuracy and overall shooting experience. I reload and given the rate of twist I'm inclined to use 60 to 69 grain bullets.

I have a Volquartsen Evolution in 223 Remington and it's been nothing but problems, wonder if anyone else has experience with the rifle as I'm about 1 problem away from dumping this thing.

The gun uses an AR type bolt with a heavy bolt carrier. In problem one, the bolt shattered on firing and the gun locked up - firing pin shattered also. Had to be sent back to the factory for repair. First time shooting after repair the extractor broke after about 100 rounds - the extractor lip sheared off. It's a simple fix but having consecutive problems with the gun associated with the bolt is a concern.

If anyone has specific experience with the Volquartsen Evolution and can relate problems or concerns - or that the thing works great - I'd like to hear.

They are awesome looking rifles, and I'm sure it will shoot awesome. I picked one up at the SHOT Show, and I'll warn you, you may want to buy a pack mule to carry it for you. That receiver is a huge chunk of stainless.

Shoots great. Little bittty groups. I was using 55 gr. G. I. ball to zero. Have not done a lot of shooting yet but so far all works fine. I carry it in my UTV. Got a deer with it lasr year. Neck shot at 95 yds. Would not dare to try that with any of my other rifles. I liked it so much I orderes a 22 mag.

Question, what is the Evolution's rate of twist?

Handbook says 1:9. They recommend not shooting 40 gr projectiles from this rifle.

Seems like that should be OK for the 60 to 69 grain bullets, yes? But the 75s would be a no go?
