What could it have been?

When I was a kid I had a single shot 22. It had a long barrel and came in a wooden box with an attachable brass shoulder stock that screwed onto the bottom of the grip. I seem to recall it was made in mass.
Being just kids we would put what ever 22 ammo we had in it and one day the side blew out so we hammered it back in and just kept shooting it. Wish I knew where that thing was today.
Anyoone have thoughts on who might have made these?
