FAL buttstock question.

I am wanting to get a shorter buttstock for my Fal rifle. I have found a Israeli buttstock for a good price on the net. I was wanting to know if any one knew what the length is on the Israeli buttstocks?
My Fal right now has the South African buttstock on it, and I have heard people say that the South African buttstocks are the longest ones.
Thanks.

If you go changing the stock, you'll need to keep track of your US parts count... and the stock counts as one...

I think the shortest ones are the various South American countries, the para stock is also a tad shorter but that means new lower, new bolt carrier, etc. as well.

Might want to call or email GPG (gunpartsguy.com) and ask, also consider a set from Ironwood Designs and just cut the butt shorter to fit you.

Israeli, G1, and metric wood are all the same length.

The SA or "Rhodesian" Zulu-length one uses a deep set hole in the back, but the lower is the same. The recoil spring tube is the same length regardless of the stock length.

It's not possible to "cut down" the length of a buttstock on a FAL. 1. Because the buttpad will not fit, grinding on it will make it look worse and 2. the recoil spring tube must be the correct length to accomodate the spring set and plunger when the rattail from the BC is at it's most rearward point of travel during the recoil cycle of operation.

Make sure you get the correct hardware for that Israeli buttstock. You'll need the metal ferrule at the front, an Israeli specific rear swivel, swivel saddle, screws and underplate, and the correct non-trapdoor buttplate.
