Black powder load help

Grand daughter is beginning to shoot black powder.
Need a starting point for a 36 cal. long gun . Target not hunting .
She is 10 years old.

    You might try posting this over in the blackpowder forum too, if you have not already.

    When you say 36cal, I am assuming it is a percussion gun like a T/C Seneca or Cherokee. I would start with o.350" ball and a 0.015" patch(well lubricated patch, with T/C Bore Butter). Then I would use a starting charge of 40gr. of FFFg BLACK powder, and a maximum charge of 60 grains.
