We are trying to find some info on this gun. The only thing we have found is
"There is even a lower production version of the 878 that is also overlooked. This is the Western Field 600-ERI. It was one of two models Remington ever made for another company, in this case Montgomery Wards. There were only 9,291 of these made in 1967 to 1970."
The main thing we are trying to find out is by looking at the serial # we believe this may be the first one off the line. If anyone has any insite on that, or any other history of this gun we would greatly apreciate it! This is also what we believe to be the original case that the gun came in.

That is some very pretty wood, the serial number is intriguing....Have you contacted Remington for history information?

The K and the P look like standard Rem code letters . If so , they would date it to May of 1967 . There has to be something special about that gun to have that Custom Shop wood on it . My it is pretty ! Are you going to auction it off ?

Remington made the 878 from 59-63 with @ 63.5K made. Seems unusual that they would bring it back 4 years later. I would suggest positng at http://www.remingtonsociety.com/forums/

I posted it on Remingtonsociety.com, thanks for the info.

No, haven't contacted Remington for info, didn't know I could do that. Might try after I see what people on Remingtonsociety.com have to say.

    As for the auction question...
Everything has its price, will probably have it on gunbroker sooner or later. :)
