There was never a Winchester Model 1879 made was there? My father's notes show a single shot, falling block, caliber .32 long, serial # 29340, but I think he mislabeled a Model 1885 low wall. Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

October 7th, 1879 is the patent date that is stamped (marked) just behind the trigger on the lower tang of the Model 1885 Single Shot rifle. Serial number 29340 was received in the warehouse on April 26th, 1889.

That is what I suspected, Bert. He knew his weapons, and merely transposed those numbers. Thanks again. Also, thanks for the warehouse date. Z

That would be great, Bert. What would that entail from my end?
