Is there a reason why tracer projectile propellent is sold seperately from regular ball projo powder?

Is it needed to get a consistant spark or what?

    Yes, the powder used in tracer ammo burns "hotter" than the standard ball powder. You can also used standard single base as well. IE 3031, 4064.
