I am thinking about a 44 mag. It looks like the Black Hawk and the Dan Wesson are both good value. I want good accuracy and adjustable sights. Whish is best deal?

Personally, I would prefer the Dan Wesson. More versatility with barrel change and double action. Ones I have owned have been very accurate.

They are very different revolvers with different feels --- SA vs DA. In addition with the Ruger you also have the choice of the Bisley grip frame. You need to go and see which feels better to you. Nothing wrong with either, IMHO.

The one Dan Wesson I've shot was an older 8" .357 and it was a well made gun. I don't think CZ who owns Wesson now is making .44 Mag's--all of the handguns on their website are 1911's--have heard they will make a custom .445 Supermag and a .357 but if they do I didn't see it listed on their site. You can of course buy used. As stated there are a lot of different Blackhawks and all kinds of barrel lengths. I sure like the .44 Bisley Blackhawk I have although mine is .44 Special, you can get them in .44 Mag.

IMO it all comes down to what you want to do with it. I own a S&W M29 classic 44mag and a 357mag Blackhawk and I like them both very well. But I have them for very different applications. Single action pistols are not my first choice for household defense whereas a double action 44mag loaded to 44spl+P velosities is. Both are at home at the target range and both can be used in hunting. Single action would be dead out for a back up gun in big bear country, IMO. Between buying a Dan Wesson or a Ruger Blackhawk in 44mag, well they are both very fine revolvers and I am sure that you would be happy with either as long as your intended use was compatable with the gun. Good luck with witch ever one you get.....

It will be hard to beat the dan Wesson, if you can find a good used one. I would prefer stainless. They are like a ruger Redhawk(another option?), as they are built like a tank, and are extremely accurate. They were actually the favored revolver for metallic shilouette.

For the Black hawk I like the Bisley. The Dan W has grip options that I also like. This would be for hunting, maybe and target. I would seldom shoot the Dan W double action so that is not a problem.
I like the simplicity of a single action but am not crazy about the typical western plow handle grip.

I've had both and I liked the DW better than the Ruger.
My DW was the stainless with 6+8" bbls.

what can I say--I'm partial to Rugers[:D] The Ruger will also not cost you as much as a Dan Wesson to buy if that is a concern.
