Is there any members that can recommend someone that can do a quality bluing on a Remington 700 Stainless steel barrel that was made in the mid 60's. I want bluing and not a spray on finish. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Does anyone know a gunsmith that can reblue a pre 64 Winchester model 70, stainless steel barrel? The barrel is scratched up and looks bad. I have been told that it is not possible to get a quality rebluing job on a stainless barrel. Has anybody had experience with this?

I think the original finish started by iron plating and then Bluing the iron plating . Today there is a company that will Black Chrome plate a stainless barrel. ether that or remove all the original finish and leave as all stainless finish.

If possible, I'd like to have a bluing that looks somewhat like the orginial.

Try Williams Shooting Iron service Telephone 417-948-0902 he is located south of mountin grove mo. I have seen some of his work and it is very close to factory. Also there is a gunsmith named George Roghar located somewhere in Penn. I have lost his card but he does very good work blueing stainless barrels and matches the carbon action to the barrel. Good luck and be prepared to pay 150.00- 200.00 if you are lucky
