In general, CZ has been making hunting rifles for many years, they are of Mauser design and are well made, reliable rifles. BRNO is probably an older version as opposed to their current models. I have a few of their new 550 models, great rifles. Is there a model number on it?

    shoot,

They are good rifles. Older ones or new they always maintained good quality. Right now, they (the brand name) were purchased by the current CZ/CZ-USA brand and the BRNO rifles are sort of their premium rifles.

    This may explain it better:

Very well made rifles, the wood is plain & simple , but that can be tarted with a custom stock , very popular in europe & good ol'uk. I have x2 r/f superb to 100yds x6 c/f 22h/223/22-250/243/6.5/308 all hunt regular , & will do 1-2" & less grouping at 200yds. A very underestimated maker.

    shoot,

    Welcome to the Gunbroker Forums!

One of the very first things you'll learn about trying to identify firearms is that you can never supply too much information and pictures are almost mandatory for best ID. There is a 'Sticky' at the top of this forum with basic instructions about posting photographs.

There are several variation on the CZ BRNO actions used for sporting rifles. Many of the most common are also the most sought after, the VZ24. These were battle rifles which have found a quality niche with the custom rifle builders. They are the M98 Mauser actions. Many of these were produced by CZ BRNO as sporters in the period after WWII around the 1948 to early 50's period. Most highly regarded were the 21 and 22 series rifles.

The action was redesigned to more easily accommodate the mounting of rings and scopes. These eventually developed into the ZG type and ultimately the 550 series design.

We need good photographs of the overall rifle including both side as well as several sharp detail photographs of the action, bolt, scope mount, and any marks or stamps.

    Best.
