Additional Coat of Dura-Coat?

OK, I've about got my mind around this Dura-coat thing. Just one last question. Does the entire gun have to be coated all at once? Or can you hit it with a pretty good coat, let it dry and then go back and finish up or touch up? Or will going back for another full/partial coat ruin the job?

I usually do 2-3 light coats. Heavier in higher wear areas.

The biggest thing is to make SURE you metal is prepped and CLEAN prior to spraying.

    EDIT:
    I use NON-chlorinated break cleaner

Yeah, I read about the importance of your gun being clean on the Duro-coat website. They even said it was important to buy and use their solvent because most other solvents leave a residue that might interfere with the Dura-coat going on correctly. Course, who knows? Maybe that is just ad hype to sell more of their solvent. But I for one don't want to find out the hard way.

I didn't want to buy their cleaner, so i used gunscrubber on everything then rinsed the gun with alcohol and let it air dry. before the rinse i wire the parts so i can hang them and not have to handle them at all after the alcohol. haven't had any problems.
