model 12 milled rib?

how to tell if a winchester model 12 has a milled rib? any pics showing the diffrent style ribs? milled,doughnut,ect.

    The term "milled rib" refers to the solid rib that Winchester first used. When you see the term "doughnut", it is refering to the base of the posts on a ventilated rib. There were at least three different types of posts that were used on the ventilated ribs during the production run.

    Top is the milled rib you refer to. Bottom is donut based rib (introduced in 1954). There was also a "round post" rib similar to the donut but without the raised base at the bottom.
