"blue" stainless, I started using Dura-coat and so far all my
customers are very happy with the results.
Bluing, in the traditional sense, is not applicable for stainless steel. Bluing requires a ferrous steel, often referred to a chrome moly.
Stainless steel can be 'blackened' but the finish is very fragile and will not stand up to much use without showing rubs and scratches.
The above suggestion is the usual route folks use these days. Duracoat or Ceracoat are the products of choice.
Best.
Are you looking to restore the finnish on a model 70 Winchester, that has a stainless barrel?
