Hi, I 've been offered a very nice Abercrombie and Fitch side by side 12 ga shotgun, 3 " chambers, 26" barrel, single trigger Made in Italy, # 1347 engraved on the stock, beautiful engraving, 99% overall condition. I have been unable to find further information on it.

Any ideas on the value?

thanks,

Chris

Hello Chris A&F imported some very nice guns. during their GUN selling days but without detail close up in focus pictures we are hopeless on telling you what you have. they contracted with MANY different makers during the years.

Well, in most liklihood more than a thousand, if that helps.

    Come with a case ?
Yes and the gun appears unfired.

Unfired is pretty darn near unprovable.

    99% is the point.

    How is it marked (proofed)?
Understood and agreed - I made the remark to reinforce the excellent condition not to suggest I could prove it was unfired.I am seeing prices ranging from $1400.00 to $6500.00. As soon as I figure out how to send photos-I will. I am not sure what you mean "proofed'-the only markings are Abercrombie & Fitch, 3 " Chamber , the Number 1327 engraved on the frame behind the trigger guard and some tiny symbols on the breech when I break it open.

Worth is what someone will pay for it. If you look on the auction side you will see some on there that have been there for ever. There is a 20ga. in VG cond. that brought around $1800.

The plus' are it is imported by A&E and is a side by side.

The Minus is that it is a 12ga., italian made, and it sounds like someone engraved the stock. The demand is just not there.

Does it have a single trigger? Case hardended? ejectors? Good wood? pad added? hand engraved? These are all things that need to be questioned when you determine worth.

Those would be the proof marks.

Ah ha- thank You. Now how do you identify them to a manufacturer or model?

Many of the Italian made guns don't have the actual manufacturers name on them, only the importers/retailers. One of the Italian Proof Marks will be a coded date of proof, which most likely will also be the actual year of manufacture.

To help you identify the gun we need quality close-up photos of all markings. On the main page of our forum near the top is a "STICKY" giveing instructions for posting photos. Do to the rules of the owners of this forum you can't post photos directly from your computers hard drive. You have to use a internet based photo hosting service as explained in the "Sticky".

OK Proof Markings are- CAM 76 EL 20 AA FINITO PSF AA A&F NY 1347
The left barrel has 3 stars stamped in it and the right barrel has 4 stars and the number 158 stamped on both. The left barrel appears to have 1970 stamped on it.

Rizzini is stamped on the stock box.
    Also PSF
    Also FINITO

AA = 1975. Doesn't appear any of the other markings identifies original manufacturer.
