Found one in excellent condition at a shop for $149. Auction side indicates this is a fair price. Any thoughts, opinions or things I should know except it takes a freight train to pull the trigger double action[:D]

Ex Hungarian military pistol. Do to light weight alloy frame, it's a good pistol to carry, but not a heck of a lot of fun to shoot. If your going to use it for CCW, it's a OK gun. Just figuring to plink with it, you would be better off with a .22.

Well, I decided to pass on this one. I kind of have mixied feelings about that[:I] Ths shop is closed for the day now and tomorrow I will be leaving the area I located it in and the shop will be closed tomorrow (Sunday)

I have several handguns and am planning to get something else soon too, so this was just going to be an impulse buy that was not going to fill any real niche in my lineup... Still kinda wanted it though[:D]

I have one just like it. Great little gun even if the recoil is a little stiff. even used it for several years as my concealed carry piece in the summertime . I paid $100.00 for mine 12 years ago so 150 is a good price buy it and enjoy it .

I have one too. Think I paid $125 for it a few years ago. Recoil is kinda stiff on it. For the price it can't be beat. I kept mine loaded with Hornandy HP 9x18's. The 9x18 is hotter than the 380 but a little slower than the 9mm.

The gun fills my Walther PPK niche in my collection.

Edit: Regarding the pot metal materials - I doubt that. Just because the price is cheap, in the case of eastern Europe, doesn't mean the gun is cheaply made.

Receiver looks to be aluminum to me and the slide looks to be better made than anything similarly priced & put out by Bersa, Hi Point, Jennings, or any of the other pot metal gun companies.

They are cool little pieces, made of some kind of zinc alloy, the ridge above my thumb was catching skin on recoil, so I filed it smooth and then did a "melt" job on the rest of it.
Pretty accurate, doubt it was ever issued to the military; more like made at the Stove, Iron and Washing Machine Factory for sale to tourists in Hungary.
The double action was too severe a pull for anything but emergency use, so I stoned down the sear and smoothed up the internals to get a 5# pull with solid strikes every time.
Paid $125 about 5 years ago, came with a matching # mag and a funky holster with a mag pouch.
Oh yeah, the kicker was the 1,000 rounds for $55.

Thanks for all of the replies, I ended up passing for now and I'm glad I did because I found what I was really looking for today[8D]

I'm still going to keep the PA-63 in mind a future purchase though.

+1- the recoil is pretty sharp- but it's a small pistol. I have one and never had any misfires or jams through about 300 rounds I've fired in it.quote:Originally posted by gunnut505

It's an odd lil' pc, but a decent shooter overall.
Sharp/painful recoil is normal w/ any form of surplus COMBLOC ammo, so I went domestic & then even started to reload for it - much better results.
