[:)] Hello, I have a 1911 Colt, serial number 527403. I would like to know the basic history. It has been in my family 85 years. Value?

    Thank You...

    This is a great site.....

The serial No. per Clawson was manufactured in 1913.
You must give a definitive condition and origanilty of parts.
What percantage of the original blue remains? Pitting? Stocks/grip
condition, Original Two-tone magazine? Bore condition and stamps.
If in the family for 85 years-value is priceless. A photo would help.
A letter from Colt-expensive-would tell you something but ....

    Best of luck. 101

    Your Colt M1911 was made:

    Colt: S/N 450,000 to 629,500 = Oct. 24, 1918 to April 10, 1919

As 101Airborne says, we'll need to know it's condition before we can value it.

Interesting about the serial number. Frankly, there's nothing anyone can do with the full serial number. I understand privacy issues, but the reality is that if you're talking about a firearm that you own in the first place, that's all that "the man" may need to know. I guess I am not sure what harm can befall someone who releases the serial number.
