CETME Problem

Just bought a new Century Arms CETME. Looks great, but the action takes way too much force to cock. Can I disassemble and polish the internals? Once the lower is removed the bolt works smoothly and the charging handle is still sticky. [^]

I have a Century Arms Cetme that has a problem. This relates to the mag's fitting and locking in place. I have mainly G3 mag's. About half will lock up OK but a very tight, the others will not lock up. What is the best way to fix this problem. Is it the gun mag catch or can the Mag's be milled some to make them fit properly? Any help on this would be appreciated.
PS all the mag's are a very tight fit in the mag well.

my dealer and i just had a long talk about this gun he had one and my understanding is internally they are not the smoothest working gun he said his took several hours of work and a couple phone calls to the manufacturer before his worked smooth this is a common problem(as is a host of other problems with these guns)however with a little time and patience they can be a good reliable piece someone here will be able to give better advise as to a fix for the problem but good luck with it TIM

I have a CETME and have sold several. One thing I have said and still say is that the CETMEs need at least 200 to as much as 1000 rounds run through them before they begin to loosen up and shoot as they should. Mine has had several thousand rounds through it and it functions flawlessly. Of the ones we sold we had only one to come back and after I explained to the customer that they need several hundred rounds through it to loosen up, he took it and shot it around 3000 rounds. I told him if it did not loosen up after shooting up to 1000 rounds let me know and I would give him his money back if he wanted or I would give it back to him then. He decided to try the 1000 rounds through it and now he loves it. He actually came back and bought one for his son. Both of my boys want me to get them one but I like the wood furniture ones and they no longer make those so they will not get one unless I find a used one with the wood furniture. Try running a few hundred rounds through it and see if it loosens up. If it does not then that is when I would say there is a problem. Once you doget it loosened up I believe you will like they way they shoot. Just my 2 cents worth.

God protect me from my friends, I can take care of my enemies...

Thanks for the advice. Looks like all I need now is a case of ammo. Can anyone advise a decent grade of 308 ammo? The last discount bag I bought at a gun show had approximately 25% duds! Most of the ones that did fire failed to cycle my FAL.[^]

With the rifle field stripped inspect the receiver and guide tube for the cocking bar, on some century rifles the welds for the sights burn through the thin sheetmetal and cause the action to get caught up on the burn through areas, just a suggestion, good luck....

Great. I'll give it a look. Have no fear, this weapon will be fired a lot. Does anyone know if most CETME's are ammo sensitive? I am hoping that the recoil operated action is somewhat more forgiving than gas operated? I have read that NATO ammo is best due to the thick case wall.
