    Hello Jerry...

I don't know the answer to your question, but I do have some good reference material at home that I will look through later this evening (I'm at work right now, so it will have to wait).

youre not the first one to post this question. i have had seen many hallmarks with g to represent skeet. **S with a / thru the S. if done with a factory capital (S) hallmark punch, the / is put right thru the S at an angle and it all looks like a dollar sign when done. but....if someone at the factory grabs the wrong size punch or a smith in town uses a hallmark bought from mail order, they end up small (s)instead. then, when they put the / thru it, if its just a little off center an low, it comes out more like g because the tail is bigger than the s! best way to check is have smith mike out the bbl for you! my bet is its a skeet shoke. i have had others tell me to look up the letter in the belgian language and see what 'g' is. some say it is pronounced 'sssssss' or shhh. maybe a french belgian lanuage expert can conifm that!? otherwise.......i say its good ole american skeet.

Jerry... this is all I could find (no mention of a "g")

    Browning choke designations:

    Cyl (true cylinder) ***
    Skeet (improved cylinder) **$
    Imp Cyl (quarter) **-
    Mod (half) **
    Imp Mod (three quarter) *-
    Full (full) *

    (English designation)
