That's a good question? Need more info. You told us it's a plain barrel, but it could be a "Plain barrel Skeet". what is the barrel lenght and choke? Shorter barrels and mod. or imp/cyl chokes bring more money than the traditional 30 in. Full. It could be a 32 in Full which brings more money than the 30 in. What condition is it in, any rust or pits? Has it been reblued? Can you give some more info. This is a 1935 gun, so a pre-war gun brings a little more than a post war gun of the same condition. Please supply more info. At this point, assuming it's in average condition for a 70 year old gun, and it's just a standard field grade, prices start around $250 and go up quick depending on condition and the exact Model 12 you have. Hello J. Crowell...

Can't add much more than what Dave's erudite response provided you, but I will elaborate just a bit more on our predicament with your question.

Your question is very much like me asking you what my 1994 Dodge truck is worth[?] If you can answer my question without any further details, then you and I really need to get together in the Riviera Hotel casino at the next Las Vegas Antique Arms Show[;)]

Thank you all for responding to my question about winchester model 12-12ga. The gun is in very good condition (looks almost like new)It was blued in 1971 and no rust or pits. It is a full choke standard model. I measured the barrel it looks like 29inches.It was given to me by my father inlaw about 25 years ago and I never used it. I hope I gave you enough information on it, but if not stay with me I would really like to know how much it is worth,

    Hello J.

Unfortunately, it is just a "shooter" grade gun now. The reblue/refinish work in 1971 forever took it out of the "collector" grade status, and it appears that it is just a Field Grade gun anyway. The barrel length should be 30" (if you use the built in Takedown feature, and take it down, you will probably find that you did not measure the section of the barrel that threads into the frame). If the reblue was a quality job and still looks good, your Model 12 is probably worth about $225 +/- a little (depending on what region of the country you live in).

J: Bert is really close on the value on the used market, which I follow closely. I wouldn't expect you would get much more than $300 even at auction. But since it was given to you by your father-in-law, that's a value in itself. That's a fine prewar gun, that has been around longer than most people. The good side, you can expect to get more money if you parted it out, typical stock sets can go for $60-125. breech bolt $40 and up, trigger guard assy, $40 and up. complete mag tube assy, $60 and up. Barrel and receiver extion, $85-140. It's a shooter with family value now. Regards Dave
