Does anyone know anything about the Russel Arms Co.? A friend has a 12 ga. Side X Side shotgun he wants to pass on to his son, that came from his dad in 1935. He would like to know something about the company and the gun to pass along. I cannot find anything on it, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Carder's, Shotgun Book, identifies Russel Arms Co. shotguns as being made in Belgium, by Pieper.

To verify the Belgian manufacture check for proof marks on the barrels and flat surface the barrels rest on. The proof marks are very distinctive. Also note if the barrels are Damascus, if they are, firing is not recommended.

To add a bit more to what rufe-snow provided, Russel Arms Company was a registered trade name used by the Wiebusch and Hilger Company of New York for shotguns they imported from Belgium.
