Could someone tell me the value of two guns?
Smith 629-1 nickel 6" barrel 95%
Springfield micro compact gi 3" barrel 95"

What would it take to trade one for the other?

In the 28th Edition of BBGV I found a S&W 629, 44Mag, 6" bbl, stainless to be $350.00 at 95%, and the Springfield Micro Compact GI .45 Cal., to be $375.00 at 95%. I could not find the S&W with the designation 629-1 Nickel finish.
    What's next?

Never was a 629 nickel. 629 is a stainless gun.

Add 50% to each and there is your price.Blue Book is for dealers to to make a profit.Good resource for them for sure.
Check Gb search and take a average.

Rosco's comment is off. I find BBGV is very close to what dealers sell for. I would consider the prices in BBGV to therefore be retail prices, or better stated as true value. I do not have an FFL, but like to shop guns and check prices constantly.

    Rosco,

I don't know how to tell you this, but for a dealer to make a profit from blue book values, they have to deduct about 30 percent from blue book prices. I do not know where you got your information from, but it is erroneous. Also a lot of people who do not have an FFL, sometimes get a hold of DEALER pricing from the distributors, and immediately think that there is some sort of BUILT IN dealer profit, of which there IS NOT.

Best way is to search auction sites for "completed auctions" and take an average from there using the prices for the condition of the piece you're searching for....
