Shipping handgun

I read a lot of the old posts about shipping handguns but I think I need further clarification.

I am not a licensed dealer. I want to ship a gun to SIG for repair. I do have a FedEx account. So I thought I would fill in the description part of the shipping label as "tools and dies" and drop it in the FedEx box for pickup. Is that ok or should I go to their office and declare that it's a pistol?

I asked Sig and they didn't give me any suggestions other than to send it by overnight.

Thanks.

Hello all I am new to the forums so excuse me if I am asking a repeat question here I did do a few searches and think I know the answer but just need a little reassurance from the experts so I dont upset anyone in the auction side. So here is my confusion shipping a hand gun I do not have an FFL and when I have sold riffles I just have the buyer send me a copy of their FFL then I ship it via the Post Office but as I understand it the Post Office does not allow you to ship handguns, but it looks like Fedex and UPS does but I am unclear on the FFL part can I still just have the buyer send me a copy of their FFL then ship it Fedex/Ups as I do with the riffles and the Post office?
Again I apologize if this is a repeat and redundant question I just want to be sure before I post any hand guns in the auction side.
    Thanks in advance.

How do you ship. I am a individual. I now it has to go overnight but does have to be shipped from one FFL to another or can it be shipped from individual to FFL. The reason I am asking is I am selling my Python Hunter to finance another gun. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you (a nonlicensee) can ship it to an FFL.

You must have a copy of the FFL in hand, & you should verify it with ATF EZ-Check. You must ship UPS Next Day Air or Fedex Priority Overnight. 2 day or 3 day air is NOT allowed. You must ship from a company customer counter (hub) NOT a packing store, UPS Store, or Kinkos. You must truthfully declare the contents of your package. Nothing on the package can identify it as a firearm; if going to Bob's Shop, address it to Bob Company.

You can also have an FFL ship it for you by USPS. I never do this because the FFL's in my area charge $50 for their services.

    ithaca4me,

Please don't take offense but this gets asked and answered about once a month or more frequently. Please use the 'Search' button in the upper right corner of the page and use the terms 'shipping handgun'. There are at least 20 threads listed.

    Best.
