Taurus 94 action

Have a brand new taurus 94 in .22, the double action pull feels like its 8-10+ pounds. Is this common, single action is great and the gun shoots fantastic.

I got one for my daughter and it's at least that heavy. She can't DA without using both trigger fingers.
