CO RETIREMENT GIFT

My CO is retiring and we want to give him something to remember his 20+ years in the Corps. We have decided on a Tommy gun (he has a safe full of shooters, but everyone needs another gun) with the gangster look (50 round drum). He would use it as a plinker on his 50+ acres when he's teary-eyed and missing his Marines. No desire to get the short model and the attendant hastles...are there any other considerations?

Tommy Gun is a good idea. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_gun

AR15 with good match barrel is also good. There is a ton of accessories available for them.

    Check out Bushmasters or ??
I'm not a AR shooter but maybe someone else has more experience and can steer you in the right direction.

    M14 is a good one too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M14

is it from you or the o' mess?
if its from you, its too much a gift.
if i remember correctly, co's cant accept gifts. its a conflict of interest.
but if his dues paid for it and the 'mess' wants to buy him the gift, its ok. you might want to check out the process with you legal officer.[;)]

and if you do get him something, get him something he can use once he's out. last thing i'd want to see is a 16 or 14 after lugging one for 20 years. and i have. now for a man whos retired...a nice model 70 winchester might do.....[;)]
