I picked up a nice winchester 69A match rifle at an auction complete with original sling. Does anyone know how many of these were built? Thanks, Don

According to George Madis, the Model 69 Match rifle was first offered in 1940, and it saw very little production up to 1954 when they were discontinued. He does not give any production numbers for the Match rifle.

Because the Model 69/69A was never serialized, tracking that type of information is next to impossible.

You are right Bert. The only Model 69s that were serial numbered were sent to England.

Offhand the toral production for the 69/69a series was 360,000 . 69's are very accurate for their weight and price. I still have my 69a match target that I got new for Christmas in 1961. THey usually sell for 50 - 80% more than regular 69's assuming comparable shape.
