Good? Bad? OK?

Would you buy it?

Thanks,

I have no use whatsoever for pistol-grip shotguns. I've played around with a pistol-grip on my Mossberg (the one I shoot 3-Gun matches with), and despite what Hollywood writers might think it's very hard to actually hit anything with them with any efficiency. If you use serious defensive loads, you'll damn near break your wrist as well.

Not a fan of folding stocks on anything, but if every inch of packing space is critical, one is infinitely more desirable than just a pistol-grip.

Better than no gun at all when you need one. But like mentioned above, its hard to hit well with them. But at point blank, its an effective tool.

I personally like the Remington 870 Marine Magnum better. I would go with a standard stock or a Speed Feed brand stock (full stock with a pistol grip that has places for 2 shells inside the stock on each side) as I like the above don't care for the pistol grips only.

Forget about the pistol grip. If you want the inability to aim, keep control of the gun, or hit what you want, as well as breaking your wrist into about five different pieces when you fire, by all means go ahead and get it.[;)]

Otherwise, get one with a stock. A folding or collapsible stock might save you on storage space while avoiding the pitfalls of a pistol-grip-only model.

Pistol grip issue aside, the mossberg is an excellent shotgun. Won't last as long as the Remington, but you will probably never wear it out in you lifetime, and reliability is very good.

Go for a stock instead of pistol grip. Mossberg has been around a while, makes good utilitarian guns (Motto of company- More gun for your money) that are used by a LOT of police agencies.

Are you thinking only One Gun on the vessel?

A nice used pump 760 or 7600 Remington 30:06 with a 15 round magazine might be nice. Compared to the operating cost of the yacht, and even if the local gendarmes take one away every three years, your protection would go up. The 760 also give that "rack" sound like an 870.

( An ex yacht owner sold me his unfired yacht-HK-91 when he was moving back to Kalifornia 'cuz he couldn't take it! I had a yacht for 12 years, but was in BC Canada so often I didn't arm the boat. )
