I have a 98 type Oberndorf cal 30-06 full stock Mauser manufactured by JP Sauer which I inherited from my grandfather. The gun has set triggers, serial number 2253XX. I shot deer with this gun as a boy and have stored it since. Recently I bought ammo and plan to shoot it again. I'd like also to learn it's history generally, what it's worth, etc. Can you tell me about it briefly or send me to be best book resource? I apologize that I'm not providing pictures as I know how desirable they'd be here. Thanks in advance...

Capt Kirk, thanks. I emailed Bert and he referred me to Jon Speed's books. I knew about them but wasn't sure this rifle would be covered. In the meantime I'll go shoot it. thanks again.
