Antique Tower muskett gun or Reproduction?

I clean storage units and came across this gun
Marked "Tower" with a "GR" and a crown
Heavy, brass, silver and wood
Barrel says Japan on the back with a serial number

Someone looked at it and said it looks very real,
very heavy and if it's a reproduction it is an older
reproduction.

Talked to storage unit owner she said it was from
her xhusbands father and it came from Canada.

Can anyone tell me about this gun, if it's a repro,
it's value? Thanks

Well, if it says Japan on it it's a repo.

Also, that rust and age effect came from your storage facility. I've had household items rust and mildew in storage facilities. Looks like a kit gun crudely assembled. Maybe $50 as a wallhanger to someone who really, really needs it. Joe

These Japanese replicas were imported in great quantities about 30 to 40 years ago. Most sparked poorly at best. They sold new back then for anywhere from $17.50 to $25.00 or so and even back then that was not a lot of money. Some folks have questioned their safety - in any event, they were not proof tested.

Yours has seen hard use and looks to have been poorly cleaned and cared for. And the ramrod is missing. Excellent pictures, by the way. But I've seen these sell on GunBroker (in better condition) for more than $100.00. Don't quite understand why. Good luck with it.

    I'm in at $50

I disagree with the statements about workmanship.

I can see the pros opinion and have seen some real quality as well.

But I threw $50 away in 5 min on Texas Holdem yesterday.

I would rather have had the FL.

Those Japanese "Tower" replicas were very cheaply made and considered dangerous to fire. Hang it on the wall.
