Did anyone ever load 10 gauge 2 7/8 inch slugs?

    Not that i know of most 10 ga is 3 1/2'' magnum loads with some kind of heavy shot, 2, 00, 000, or slug. Look for Hogdon or lyman reloading book on shot shell. Happy hunting

    Yes, Winchester did. They are listed in the 1907 catalog as "Single Ball", and were intended for use in the Models 1887 and 1901.

    I'd like to find some of the slugs themselves, not necessarily loaded shells. I'd like to try loading them in some brass I have for use in a 1901 Winchester for deer here in shotgun-only-land.

    My bet is that you are going to be looking for a long time. You would be better off having a hollow base mold made. Just for the fun of it, keep in mind that a 10 gauge round ball is 1.6 oz or 700 grains.
