Does antone have any first hand experience with the Winchester Wildcat 22 rifle? I like the looks but looks does not mean quality. Are they made in the US? I have target 22's so I'm interested in a nice plinker that I can share with my grandson's. Thanks

For the money they don't look too bad. Made in Russia but workmanship looks pretty good. If you do a Google search you'll find some reports on the web about accuracy; generally stated to be pretty good. I've handled one but did not fire it. For a plinker to shoot with your grandson it should be more than adequate. I think retail is about $239 and saw one at Bass Pro, slightly used, for $179. . . .thinking about going back to get it. Feels a little like my old Anschutz for a third of the cost.

They are made by the Tula plant in Russia. Nice little rifles and it would be a good little plinker, but it is not up to the quality standards of the new Savage or Marlin offerings, but then again the price is also lower. I stock them new for $179.99.

You can find a new Tula TOZ-78 for $50 less than the Winchester. Here is a new TOZ-99 simi auto that is going for less than the Winchester:
