anyone familiar with the model 40 cooper rifle? this is a 22 hornet I have a chance to buy from a widow and dont intend to "steal" it. anyone have an idea of fair value? Cooper staff is not helpful at all about its history except to say very few were made. thanx in advance for any help. I forgot to say it is a custom classic version.

Looking at buying a new rifle. Kinda have my heart set on a cooper m52 in a .270 win. I am still undecided as to get a wood or syn stock. My question is are they worth the money. It seems to me when it comes to tools or guns (which guns are tools) you get what you pay for. Is there any benifits to syn over wood as far as accuracy/reliability? Im looking to use this gun for deer/varmiting/bench shooting. nothing much bigger than deer. I'm leaning towards the 270 cause of its availabilty in ammo although i do plan on hand loading. Or could there be a better cal out there that would fit my uses better? Any opinions will be appreciated. I know asking what caliber gun to buy is kinda stupid, but it will give me some ideas and things to look at.
    thanks guys

There is a service GB has where they would price it for you. The problem with the 22 Cooper is finding brass for it. Cooper doesn't make it any more.
