How much does a 500 round lot of 308 Brass weigh..

Does anyone know how much 308 Brass weighs...trying to figure out an easy way to count brass...I'm also interested in knowing how much 1000 rounds of 9mm weighs...Thanks for the help!!!

    Weigh 10 on a scale; take the average. Multiply by 500 then divide by 7000; that is the weight in pounds.

    500 fills up about 3/4 of a square USPS Flat Rate Box.

    That is how I shipped last time I sold some.

    When I was involved in ammunition supply in the USAR we had charts that showed how much the brass weighed. I don't recall if this was in a TM or some other publication. The book Cartridges of the World shows that 7.62 Nato brass weighs 190 grains with no more than a 20 grain variation from heaviest to lightest. I think that is another weight of saying 190 grains plus or minus 10 grains. 7.62 NATO brass is thicker, thus heavier, than civilian .308 Win. I don't know how much difference there is but loading tables caution reloaders to reduce the charge in military brass due to less case capacity.

    I just sold 611 rds of LC. They weighed about 17lbs.
