Best magazine for AR15/M4/M16

I've heard debates over magazine types before but I want to see what everybody thinks about AR15/M4/M16 magazines, and what one is the best. Also I've heard a rumor about one magazine that actually doesn't get destroyed and cause a SAW to misfeed when used in a SAW then reloaded and put into a M4/M16 (It's a plastic clear window mag).

So far in woodland/plains weather I've fired from the H&K SA80 Magazine and the standard US Issue Mags and have seen little to no performance difference, but yet again I've only put 200 rounds through an H&K mag. Also, if anyone else has used different magazines, please let me know what you think of them.

Thanks,
-J. Devine

Pmags, hands down the best mags ive ever used. I dont need the window in my pmag either. Ive got a few LEO marked Colt mags, and theres really no difference between function with the Colt Mags or the Pmags, i just prefer the Pmags, theyre a bit more rugged.

I think the HK magazines are by far best. They cost anywhere from $35.00 to $60.00 and that's down from the $80.00 or so folks were asking about a year or so ago. I have a few 30 rounders, use them in a Volquartsen Evolution. They are so smooth inside, perfectly finished. I guarantee if you try one out - just press down the follower and feel how well finished the inside is - you'll buy one.

I have plenty of other magazines, whether an AR mag NEEDS to be that good is debatable I guess.

    Pmag and Pmag.

I was really sold on them after I watched a show on the history channel. There was a HK rep shooing the HK416. It had every toy known to man on it. The rifle had a Redi-mag on it so the gun held 2 mags. Want to guess what mags he was using...............

    2 Pmags

All of the USGI and high end mags work very well. Mags like C-Products, Brownells, D&H, NHMTG, ect. But the question was what is best. You can find GI mags for about $10 each. You can get the Pmags for about $15 each.

Well all it takes in my profession is one misfunction of a M4 and I might not be coming back intact, that's the beauty of being in the Army.

I actually picked up my HK mags for $34 dollars each (got 7 of them) when one of our officers handed me the HK mag. Now for Pmags, I've never seen them or used them, but since I got the time i'll go look them up too.

    another node for PMAG's

they can be dropped, run over by a car/truck and still possibly function where as the standard stamped GI mags will deform or be squashed and be rendered useless.

A local guy here has been throwing one around his shop ever since they started making them.

every guy that walks in that place has been asked to throw it where every they want and it has yet to break

At Kastle Keep Guns, they keep one behind the counter, they rant it over with a silverado, shot it with a .45, left a big hole in it, dropped it off the top of the shop, and threw it into the air and let it hit the ground more than enough times. Still Functions. [:D]

Stick with the USGI magazines...you cannot go wrong! If they are good enough for the US military they will work just fine for you.

USGI and Brownell mags are great and relatively cheap.

    Pmags are great as well.

Thermold and Orlite also work well.

JUST DO NOT BUY ANYTHING BY USA MAGAZINE INC

why are those pmags so durable, anybody know? Polymer?

There have been other poly mags, but some have been brittle like Orlites. Some melt when used rapid fire like Thermolds, and some are not properly reinforced like the Pro Mags. What the Pmag has is the right polymer formula, and its properly reinforced.
