But.....+1 on what perry shooter says.
The other posters have given you valuable information. I don't shoot my 1911 style pistols often enough to worry about lead build up. But I have helped others out removing lead fouling from their firearms.
With just "light" lead fouling - I use Kroil and a bronze bore brush.
For "heavy" fouling - I use Butche's Bore Shine - bronze brush firmly epoxed into an old arrow shaft and a battery powered drill. I have had to use this on one really old and really fouled barrel for 15 minutes.
