I have what I think is a Chiefs special Airweight with a 1 7/8" barrel. It is in good to Excellent condition. Serial# J995448. Says Mod-37. Was wondering the approximate year of the model and it's approximate current value.

Thanks for your help.

    Made in 1982.

    According to the BlueBook:

    95% cond $250.00
    98% cond $350.00
    100% cond $400.00

"Excellent" could be any one of these.

    Hello.
I don't believe the Modle 37 is the one with the shrouded hammer. I believe that one is the Model 38, but I could be mistaken.

Bluebook quotes are often times a tad low, and I think your gun, if it is in decent shape (i.e. NRA very good to unfired, in-the-box) would probably bring a bit more.....perhaps 20% more than Bluebook price listings.

Wolf.... your right, the mod 37 is like the mod 36 but with the alloy frame.

The model 38 has the shrouded hammer frame and is also an airweight model. It is the light weight version of the model 49.

Top model 49... Middle 649... Bottom Mod 38.
