I am looking to purchase the above mentioned firearm. Being that I reload I was curious if anyone had any good suggestions on bullet/powder. what is a good bullet weight for this gun, or should it shoot good with any weight bullet? just curious

I like the 45 grain 4000FPS Winchester store loads!! Accurate enough and lots of energy. beach

    Ain't it fun.
I was given that gun in the Stainless with 1in10 twist and the laminate stock.
I put a Leupold 8X25 tactical scope on it and then had my gunsmith put in a new trigger as the Ruger trigger could not be set light and crispy enough for long distance prairie dog shooting.

I load the 55 gr spire point with cannelure and I have loaded both BLC2 and 3855 and both are very easy to load and nearly identical for accuracy.

I am heading for Wy in two weeks for my first dog shoot of the year (providing the snow melts) and I have trouble sleeping as I am so anxious to get started.

I also have an R93 LRS2 in with the 223 and a 22-250 barrel for it and it is the only gun I have that will outperform the #1.

I load the same bullets and powder for this gun as well and the performance is spectacular just as it is with the #1.

I hope you are able to get good loads and enjoy your #1 as much as do I.

Take care and please let us know what you choose and how it performs for you in the field.

It all depends on what you wish to do with it. I would think the 40-55 grain ballistic tips would be just the thing for varmints. I also know the 45 grain Barnes XLC/TSX out of a 223 at 3500fps works well on deer, as does the 60 grain Nosler Partition at a little slower speeds.
