J. Stevens Shotgun with no serial number

I have a Stevens .410 Shotgun
Bolt Action, Single Shot, no safety.

Model is 54A
I can find NO Serial number anywhere.
Under the stock, there is (what looks like) stamped in the metal:
R.T. - W.G. (could be P.T. - W.G.)

Is this a rare gun? Where would a serial no. be?

Appreciate any help from the experts![:D]

Oh, by the way, the stamp on the top of the barrel says:

    J.STEVENS ARMS COMPANY
    CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS, USA
    410 BORE PROOF testED
    MODEL -54A-

Made before 1968 and needs no serial number

Made sometime between 1916 - 1930 (based on the address marking on the barrel). As Duckhunter mentioned, serial numb ers were not required before the GCA of 1968. Typically, on the lesser exspensive guns, serial numbers were omitted for cost purposes.

No, it is not a rare (or valueable) gun.
