I have a Win Mod 50 Lightweight that is in good shape. It is clean as a pin, mechanically good as far as I can tell. It fire properly and recoils sufficiently to extract the spent shell. However, the next round does not leave the magazine tube and feed into the chamber. Any help in correcting this problem woild be truly appreciated.

Thanks, Joe

I had one, ( standard Model 50, also Model 59) years ago. It had a short recoil mechanism. Take the barrel off make sure everything you can get to internally is clean, and the the barrel moves freely. Carefully try cycling shells from the magazine manually to see if their is any problems with the shell release or elevator mechanisms. If it functions OK manually, try some shotgun shells with hotter loads. I've had some functioning problems with the cheep promotional dove loads in the past.

Thanks for your input. I have cleaned it thoroughly and all parts appear to be in good shape. I have also tried cycling it manually but still can't get the next shell to leave the magazine tube.

    Thx, Alacat

If it wont work cycling the action manually probably something wrong in the shell release/elevator mechanism. Best thing would be to take it to a local gunsmith IMHO. As the various Model 50's have been out of print for over 40 years, replacement parts might be a problem?

Numrich has a good assortment of Model 50 parts on their list. Check them out.

I had a friend bring me his dad's model 50 to look at as it was doing about the same thing you describe except I think I remember it firing and extracting loading one shell from the mag but no more or something like that. Anyway, I took the mag spring out and it actually had been looped inside the tube. How this happened I don't know but when I straightened it out the gun functioned perfectly.

    Might try that, who knows.
