A buddy of mine bought a 4 inch Kimber 45 auto. He wants to change the sights on it. Does this require more or less a drift pin to remove the old ones both front and rear??? Does Kimber use a special dovetail angle as well. I never really looked at one and I figured I could do it for him. Any help would be appreciated.

Dovetailed sights can be removed very carefully with a brass punch, or a specific tool that is made for that purpose. Make sure that a brass punch of the correct diameter is used. And the pistol is positioned on a padded nonmaring surface. Check the front sight for a roll pin, that might have been drilled vertically to hold it in place though. Attempting to remove the dovetailed sight with the roll pin in place, is going to screw up the Kimber.

Contact the customer service folks at Brownells for replacements sights for the Kimber. They will have the correct ones in stock, as long as the Kimber has factory original dovetails.
