Vintage cartridge I.D.

I've been going through things that I inherited a while back. I have a 10 round leather ammo holder that is secured by the users belt. I'm concerned about the ammo. It's marked R-P 30.06 SPRG. 5 cartridges appear to be sabots with white plastic serrated partial covers. All are copper hollow points with a lead core. A couple of the second five are my concern. The copper is cracked and the bullet has moved maybe .040" away from the brass. Also, when looking at the separation I see what looks like copper with very fine serrations. Any ideas what this is and is it safe to keep?
Thanks guys,
Thanks guys,
It's too late for me, save yourself.

Not sure what the second five are about, but it sounds like someone fiddled with them.

From your description, it is really hard to visualize the other five. You need to give a better description or, even better, a photo or two. Could they be Accelerators where a part of the sabot has broken off? Just a SWAG.
If they are HP's they could reloads. The other sound questionable. Personally 10 rounds of mystery isn't worth the risk.
Thanks again guys,
At a cartridge show, you'll find both to be rather common, most often in the "5 for a buck" bins (full Garand clips of AP and API ammo are in the "$2ea / 12/$20" bin).
The 30-06 Accelerator had a claimed velocity of around 4,500 fps, and laid claim to the "Fastest Factory Load in the World" spot. The .308 Winchesters claimed about 4100 fps. Still have 4 boxes of those.
I'd still like to see a photo of "The copper is cracked and the bullet has moved maybe .040" away from the brass."
The proof is in the photos.
