SW N frame grips (cokes)?

I have been looking for a set of factory correct grips for a pre-28 5 screw highway patrolman DOM 1955.
The info I have(thanks to the experts on this forum)gives me one choice since the magna style ones were serialized to the gun.
The type Im after are target walnut grips with a diamond around the screw holes.
I believe this style is sometimes referred as coke bottle grips or cokes.(not sure).
I met a guy that claims to have a set in excellent condition.
I know these are pricey and hard to come by.
We have not talked about a price.
Id like to hear opinions as to what a fair offer for them would be.
Thank you.

As far as actual fair market value is concerned. Check fleabay, they occasionally come up for auction. Likely if factory original, and in at least VG condition. Quite pricy.

The original Cokes have a large diamond surround of the grip screw, will most likely be numbered to the original gun, and when viewed from the rear when mounted show a slight swelling in the palm areas that resembles the old Coke bottle shape.
Beware there are some similar looking new production look a likes out there.
The original ones can bring $150 to $450. according to color, grain, and condition.
Any that can be had for the lower end are usually the newer ones or older ones that have been refinished or need it.

$100-$200... Easy.... Pricey for sure. I have found some alternatives in Eagle Grips, they make some good grips for Smith wheel guns.

    Thanks guys.
Im thinking about $300 in an auction setting for a nice set.
I have a SW 29 no dash 4 screw(DOM 1958)which I believe have the same type of grips I seek for the pre-28.
The ones on the 29 are dark and I do not see alot of grain in them.
I can tell the old type from the new.
Ive seen several new and a few old and they look to be easily discernable from one another.
I hope the guy has a nice set and his asking price is not over $200.

Your pre-28 S&W did not come from the factory with Coke grips. S&W put Cokes on their early .44 magnum revolvers, never on the Highway Patrolman. Your 1958 4-screw 29 would have them.

Not all diamond target grips are Coke grips. In fact, nearly all factory target grips with diamonds being sold online are NOT Coke-style grips, despite what the seller calls them. They are the later (1960's)S&W grips, very nice, but not Cokes.

Last June a pair of Cokes sold for %599 on eBay. Target diamond N-frame grips (non-Cokes) go for about $200-$250 a pair.

Thank you all for the info.
The seller in this case did not refer to the grips he has as cokes.

Zinderbloc...If you the no dash 29s came with cokes i guess i can compare and see if the sellers are target walnut diamonds with a slightly different shape design.
    thanks again

dcs shooters...he has not said how much he wants yet.
the ones you show are not the type.
the checkering continues down farther and overall cover a larger area than your pic and goes to within about 3/8 of an inch from the bottom of the grip.
aside from the diamond yours remind me of the common rosewood grips on alot of later model n frame smiths.

    EDIT:dcs shooters...
I dont know for sure what is factory correct.
if the set dcs shooters show are correct then it will be a easier and less money to acquire a set.
    are the ones shown walnut?

Those pictured by dcs are not worth $300.00...The top portion of the left grip has been "BUBBA'D" probably to allow clearance for a speedloader????
    Not at all original anymore...
