will a rem 700 bbl thread up to a rem. 600/660 action. Could you then rechamber to 6mm rem.? The action is from a rem 660 6mm. THX

Basically anything can be done, however rechambering the 243Win to the 244/6mm isn't practical- the Win is wider at the shoulder than the Rem so the chamber would need to be cut farther into the barrel, which would have less diameter/strength forward of the chamber where pressure requires it. It would be possible to go with an Improved Rem that had the taper decreased so it would fill the previous chambering.

THREAD DIMENSIONS ARE THE SAME BUT AS HAS BEEN POINTED OUT THE BARREL WOULD HAVE TO BE SHORTENED (AT THE CHAMBER END) FOR THE 6MM REAMER TO 'CLEAN UP' A .243 CHAMBER.

I think the 243 has less body taper than a 6mm. So even though the 6mm is longer, it wouldn't cut away the entire 243 chamber.

In other words, the 243's shoulder is shorter but it is wider than the 6mm case and you would get a double shoulder in your chamber.

Action length might also be a problem.

you might be able to locate an original 660 barrel in 6mm, although they weren't as popular as the 243. good luck with the project
