I have a liberated 12 gage shot gun that was brought back from WW2, it is a SXS with exposed hammers. The top of the barrel is marked FuSil SPE'CIAL Pr Poudre Pyroxyl'ee. (modern powder?) It is engraved on the stock and the metal. Under the for guard it is marked ACIER comprime M37 18 2. When broken down it reads CANON DE SURETE CECARBURE' au creusct. Any Idea's Thanks Andy. The shotgun has a great feel to it, just was not sure what to insure it for.

You will have to post quality photos. For accurate identification and valuation.

There is a "STICKY" on our header page giving instructions for posting photos.

That said. Double barreled hammer guns, aren't usually big buck items. New ones are still being made overseas, and imported for sale here. Usually they sell in the $300/$500 range. Unless yours proves to be very unusual, and desirable to a collector? Not likely to be of extreme value? .

Nothing there that would identify the maker.
    Gun especially for smokeless powder
    made of steel
barrel of decarburized and compressed crucible steel.

I have a hammerless of similar background. Probably looted by an American GI from a German who looted it from a Frenchman.
Mine has the maker's name, Verney Carron, in tiny letters on the underlug.
